Visit to Poland

VISIT TO POLAND 21.09.2013 - 24.09.2013

PEOPLE- group's visit to Lublin

Our visit to Lublin, Poland started on Saturday 21.9. We flew from Helsinki to Warsaw and stayed in Warsaw one night. We had lunch at the "milk bar". Restaurant is directly in the Soviet period. It was very cheap.
In the evening we walked to old town with our Portuguese friends. We had dinner in a fancy restaurant.

Next day we had a city Tour. It lasted 3½ hours. We saw a lot. After Tour we had dinner in Cafe Blikle, the oldest cafe in Warsaw. That cafe has been marshal Mannerheim's favorite place. We had an omelette Mannerheim style (Fluffy omelette with chunks of fresh lobster and béchamel sauce with a hint of brandy. Served with mix of salad and a glass of sparkling champagne).  In the afternoon we traveled by train to Lublin.
On Monday after breakfast we had a meeting with partners. Those partners were from Portugal, Spain, Italy Turkey, Poland, Norway and of course Finland. After that the students went to city center with a local guide. We visited a castle, the old town and a church. In the evening we all had dinner in a local restaurant, traditional Polish cuisine.

On Tuesday Marianne guided us in the castle. We traveled in local busses. We visited The Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). In the afternoon our hosts took us to Majdanek concentration camp. The weather was chilling and the place was shivery. In the evening all partners had dinner together.

On wednesday we travelled to Warsaw by train. We had a couple hours for shopping.

  1. I tried to make fluffy omelette, but I didn't succeed. Maybe later.
