Tomorrow morning I will be flying to Amsterdam ,to my second home in Leiden. Leiden is a very old university town about 20 km south of the airport Schiphol. It will take only 20 minutes by train to go to Leiden. At this time the temperature is a bit higher than here in Finland. Something about 15 degrees C. I enjoy to visit the market (in Leiden on tuesdays and saturdays, and in The Haque on mondays, wednesdays, fridays and saturdays). There you can buy fresh vegetables, fruit, fish ,seafruit, meat, duck and game. The prices are much cheaper than here in Finland. I will inform you with pictures from the marketplace.

Well, I am back now from Leiden. My flight to Amsterdam was an awfull one. There was a storm (170 km/hour) over the northern part of europe. Trees were broken and cars are swept of the highway. There were many victems on that day.Luckily the plane landed well in Schiphol.

Food is much cheaper than in Finland.Lime at the market cost 10 pieces for 1 euro. Also cherry tomatoes,
cucumber etc. cost for a basket 1 euro.Nectarines also for 1 kg 1 euro.
Blacktiger prawns or gambas cost you 10-12 euros for a kg, and snow crab 8,50 euros a kg.
On sunday I invited my aunt (my mothers sister who is 84 years) and her daughter plus husband and son for a late lunch. My sister and her husband were also present. They live nextdoor to my appartment.
We had first deer carpaccio with rucola and barolo tartufo balsamico, then barberi whole duck (3,5 kg) with rösti potatoes and portwine sauce and figs semifreddo with in redwine preserved fresh figs and orange caramel sauce. We drank an italian red wine made from the primitivo grapes.
