Trip to Venice Italy 16-21 Oct 2013
I arrived at Venice on Wednesday in the afternoon. From Marco Polo Airport we took a vaporetto which carried us along Canal Grande to the centre of town.
The weather was pleasant - 21 degrees - while we came to our hotel La Fenice et des Artistes, just behind the opera house. After a delicious seafood risotto -dinner the whole group (20 persons) still went to the traditional evening walk "passeggiata notturna".
On Thursday after breakfast our group visited the famous Art Museum of Accademia. We continued to the church of Santa Maria della Salute and still before a break to an interesting exhibition of modern art at Punta della Dogana.
Our lunch included Italian mushroom pasta "pappardelle al porcini", green salad, local while wine and gorgeous view to Canal Grande.
In the evening we had tickets to Madame Butterfly, at Grand Opera La Fenice. High-class music and international atmosphere ! I even met my earlier neighbour during the pause while standing in a queue for prosecco.
On Friday after breakfast and a cup of espresso we visited Museum Ca' d'Oro at Cannaregio. At the nearby osteria we took our lunch: delicious tagliatelle with lobster and a glass of fresh and fruity Pinot grigio. We continued to see the famous church Madonna dell'Orto with many great works of Tintoretto.
In the evening we had our dinner at Enoteca San Marco. Veal liver with polenta (Fegato Veneziana) was tender and really tasty. Local redwine Valpolicella was perfect with it. Grappa brunello was a good choice to finish the meal.
Saturday was the day of Torcello. We took a vaporetto to Fondamente Nuove and then continued by boat to that lagun island. First we visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and saw the beautiful mosaic of Virginian Hodegetria on it's golden background.
For our lunch we found Ristorante Villa '600, which got 5 stars from quality of good food and service. Ravioli al Salmone e Pistacchio was top delicious with the beautiful local chardonnay wine. The meal ended on refreshing sorbetto.

I came hungry when I read the story and saw those delicious food pictures. This is something I must study: The right vine for the right food. Perhaps this is why I follow Bing.
